About Ulat UP

Ulat UP is a compendium of major news and feature articles about the University of the Philippines (UP), including the eight UP constituent units and one autonomous college. This newsletter offers snapshots of developments and current events across the UP System, and aims the spotlight on the various UP campuses. The Ulat UP website also features an expanded archive of articles, reflecting various aspects of life in UP.

The categories:

  • The UP System – Significant news with UP Systemwide or nationwide impact, regardless of whether the news comes from the UP System or a constituent university.

  • Knowledge Creation – News and updates about programs, courses, curricula, and pedagogical developments including digitization, academic calendar notices, research breakthroughs, collaborations and innovations, etc.

  • Isko Life – News about and relevant to UP students, including announcements from the OSDS and under the OVPAA, news from and about UP student organizations and the OSAs of each CU, etc.

  • Spaces and Places – News and updates about infrastructure development and changes and additions to each CU campus, as well as news on the digitalization of UP (technology, software, bandwidth, etc.

  • UP Fight – Sports-related news not only from UP Diliman and the UAAP, but the regional sports events as well from the CU.

  • Arts and Heritage – News and updates (mostly announcements) about events and developments in the arts, culture, music, and the humanities from the UP System (e.g., UPSO news) and the CU.

  • UP Spirit – News about and for UP staff and employees, UP alumni and alumni groups, and UP’s communities.

  • Serving the People – News and updates from the UP System via UP Padayon, the Pahinungod offices from the UP System to the CUs, and other members of the UP community (not including alumni) serving external communities in some way or form.

Website Goals and Objectives:

  • To provide UP’s audiences with a quick, convenient, and centralized way to get the most important news and developments across the UP System.

  • To give UP’s internal stakeholders a sense of community and unity of purpose as they learn about developments in other CUs and sectors of the University.

  • To showcase the developments, achievements, progress, and contributions of the University and the members of its community to its stakeholders and the general public.

  • To shine an additional spotlight on the work done by the information offices/officers of each UP CU.
